Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru, better known as My Dress-Up Darling! made a teaser announcing the second season of the romantic comedy. The series’ official website made the announcement on Saturday, with a teaser featuring clips from the first season of the anime and a new visual from the series author Shinichi Fukuda.
The first season of My Dress-Up Darling! was very well received, and news of a second season will come highly welcomed as the return of one of the most notable manic-pixie dream girls of 2022, Marin Kitagawa, is now on the cards. The announcement teaser can be seen below.
The first season of the romantic comedy My Dress-Up Darling! aired during the Winter season of 2022, from January to March, spanning the industry-standard of 12 episodes. The main cast consisted of Shōya Ishige and Hina Suguta, with the series direction being the responsibility of Keisuke Shinohara. The anime series was produced by CloverWorks (Spy x Family; The Promised Neverland).
Hailed for its portrayal of friendship and the organic development of romance centered on the art of cosplay, My Dress-Up Darling! quickly became one of 2022’s first new hits, with several similar titles following its release in subsequent seasons this year. While the second season is confirmed, there has not been any information regarding the series as yet; however, it can be surmised that there will be more revealed in the coming months as 2022 draws to a close.
My Dress-Up Darling! follows the life of loner and aspiring doll-maker Wakana Gojo, a high school student who is afraid to express his love for the art of traditional hina doll-making due to an unpleasant experience he once had when sharing this interest with a childhood friend.
Since then, Wakana has retreated into himself, doing his best not to stand out. However, when the prettiest girl in his class, Marin Kitagawa, responds positively to his craft, his life begins to change as his new friend brings him out of his comfort zone when she requests that he apply his great aptitude for making clothing for dolls, to making intricate cosplays for her. While Wakana is very reluctant at first, he comes to understand that he and Marin are more alike than he ever thought, and the two connect on the basis of having intense passion for something many other people don’t quite understand. The first season of My Dress-Up Darling! is avaliable for streaming on the Crunchyroll platform, having simulcast the series earlier this year.
